You'll still get everything from our shorter tours — Ait Benhaddou, the Dades Valley, Todra Gorge, a night in Erg Chebbi — but with an extra overnight stop that spreads the driving out and adds a region most short itineraries skip entirely.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

1. D1

   Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

   We leave Marrakech and climb the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stopping at Ait Benhaddou for a proper guided walk through the kasbah rather than a quick photo stop. After Ouarzazate, where we pause to see the desert town that has hosted decades of film productions, we continue into the Dades Valley, passing rose-growing villages and the striking folded cliffs locals call the monkey fingers. Rather than pushing on to Merzouga in one long stretch, we stop for the night in the Dades Valley itself, giving you a proper look at the gorge in the late afternoon light and a full night's rest before tackling the desert leg tomorrow.

2. D2

   Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga

   This morning is dedicated to Todra Gorge, where 300-meter limestone walls rise almost vertically above a narrow river — we stop long enough for a real walk into the canyon, not just a drive-by. From there we head south through Tinghir and Erfoud, a town known for its fossil workshops built on the region's ancient marine sediment, before arriving in Merzouga by mid-afternoon. As the heat eases, you'll set off by camel into Erg Chebbi, reaching camp for a Sahara sunset, dinner, and a night of campfire drumming beneath a sky with none of the light pollution you'd find in the city.

3. D3

   Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – the Draa Valley – Zagora

   After sunrise over the dunes and a camel ride back to Merzouga, we take breakfast and set off in a different direction than we came. A stop in Rissani, once a caravan trading post and market town, leads onto the road toward the Draa Valley, Morocco's longest river valley and a corridor of palm groves and kasbahs stretching toward Zagora. It's a striking contrast to the bare dunes you've just left — green, cultivated, and dotted with mud-brick villages — and we overnight in the Zagora area, well clear of the desert but still deep in the south.

4. D4

   Day 4: Zagora – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

   The final day takes you back north through Ouarzazate, with a short stop for anything you missed on day one, before the long climb back over the Tizi n'Tichka and down into Marrakech. We aim for an evening arrival at your accommodation, closing a loop that took you from the Atlas to the dunes and through a river valley most two- or three-day tours never touch.
